A family needs prayer

Posts: 29 05/17/08 12:53 AM	I found out tonight that one of the families in my home school group son died today. His little sister was at the Spanish review class at 11 am and it was right after the class that her mom found out about it. I spent a week just last month with the mom and his sister when we went to Gleanings. I feel so sad for the mom, this is her oldest child and he was only 24 or 26 yo. I ache for my friend, I don't know how to help her. I can't image how I would feel at the lose of my child. Posts: 423 05/17/08 01:49 AM	Just heartbreaking. Heavenly Father, We lift this mother and her family to you in this hour of profound grief. You know what it's like to lose a precious son. Please surround them in your mercy and grace and let them feel your loving compassion so needed now. It hurts. And only you can reach deep within to touch the type of pain that they are feeling to bring any comfort at all. Please bring them your comfort in every way possible at this time and let them know that love never ends - even when life does. Bring them close and hold them through the days, weeks and months ahead which will be so difficult and painful. Help Sharon have the tools she needs to be whatever this mother may need at any given moment, and give her your words of comfort to pass along to this grieving family. We are inadequate and quite helpless without your guidance at times such as this, we just have no words of our own. Keep them close and give them all an extra measure of your tender loving care, so very needed right now. In Jesus' holy name we ask these things, amen ~*~ A couple of years ago, we had a friend named Barb who had lost her young son in a car accident at the Grief and Loss board. I communicated w/her for quite a long while. I still wonder about her and did write to her a few times. It was so hard. Like you, I can hardly imagine that pain...it is a deep wound that really never heals. Like the horrible dreadful pain of chronic illness that never goes away, there are days it may be possible to live with it, but it is ever present and some days just unbearable to the extent that it nearly drives you completely out of your mind. That... is this type of loss exaggerated 10,000 %. My heart (and my prayers) go out to her and the family.

Posts: 72 05/17/08 09:31 AM	If I can just add a request for dd's schoolmate. This girl just lost her mother this very week, and graduates next week. She (like my daughter) was homeschooled up to this point; and I as i told my dd, and think of the family above, I realize how blessed that time together was.

Posts: 29 05/17/08 12:14 PM	Lin - I hope you don't mind but I sent part of the beautiful prayer to her. Thanks everyone. Gracewings- I'll keep the daughter's friend in my prayers. Oh, sad for her. My son's friend's mom died during his jr yr and it was very tough on him. Oh dear Lord, be with her in her time of need. The good thing I can say about about them losing their loved one, is that they will see him or her again. Things are not without hope. I can't image going through something like this without the hope of heaven.

At times like these, we can hardly formulate the words for any type of coherent prayer on our own in light of such tragedy. Will continue to keep them before the mercy seat of God...they will need help for a very long time to come. ~~ Gracie...I'm so very sorry to hear of this young girl's personal sorrow. As you know, my mother died the month almost to the day of my fifteenth birthday. Life changed dramatically for me very quickly. It will for this young lady as well. Lord, as I think of this young woman...all the feelings of a young fifteen year old come flooding back to me. The complete and utter lost-ness. The overwhelming mass feelings of confusion trying to know what to do next...I remember too, the terrible anger I felt ... at You, dear Lord. This young lady needs you so and I ask that you gather around her those who will help her deal with all the mix of emotions she is undergoing and will be going through. She is filled with grief and sorrow that only a loving heavenly Father can possibly help her sort. Please help her through "the events" upcoming that normally are cause for celebration, which are overshadowed now with impossible pain and anguish intermingled. Be her guide and comfort at this time of one of her greatest needs, and draw near to her and get her through the void so that her heart can heal. And please Lord, do not let this be the downward spiral of her faith. Keep her always in your care and help her through it to completion, in Jesus name we ask these things...amen. ~~ And you're so right sharon...I don't know how people get through these things w/out the hope of heaven in their hearts. I do know that I had neither that or a family that cared when I was fifteen and lost my mom...but one thing that finally dawned on me all those years after - that I did have, My God never lost sight of me...even when I turned my bitterest contempt toward him as the primary target for the blame. I told God that I hated Him - and thankfully, He let me have my independence and my anger and my own way until He knew His peace could "settle into" my heart and soul for good. He never gave up on me, and I know He never will, even now. If He kept a young stickly girl from complete and utter disaster way before she would ever come to know Him or that He even really existed as anything more than a curse word in life, gracie ... how much more so will He lovingly watch over this young woman who already has a foundation of faith and a good start to relationship with Him? They are at the very least already acquainted, and I know He will be there for her. But right now, she'll need all the help, prayers, and support she can get.
